Organized in 1986, The Colebrook Land Conservancy is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization run entirely by volunteers. The goal of the Conservancy is to preserve Colebrook's natural resources, including land and water resources, plant and animal life, and unique scenic, natural and historic sites. We're involved in the protection of over 960 acres in town. The Conservancy:

ó Owns 247 acres,

ó   Holds voluntary conservation agreements limiting development on 319 acres, and

ó   Is steward for the 394-acre Phelps Research Area in North Colebrook.

Ongoing Activities

ó Sponsors nature and historic walks and talks, including programs at the Colebrook      Senior and Community Center's pot luck dinners.

ó Donates conservation books to the Colebrook Consolidated School each year in honor or Earth Day through its Robert B. Lisle book fund.
