Among his subjects were President Joe Biden, Queen Elizabeth, John Lennon, and Johnny Cash to name but a few. For three years he was the official photographer of His Highness the Aga Khan and traveled nearly a quarter million miles while on the job. His work has been published in almost every major magazine and displayed in exhibitions across this country. In recent years Mr. Little has turned his talents to writing, publishing a murder mystery thriller, “Ever So Silent.” He’s currently working on another book

What Bears Have Taught Me About Being Human
presented by Ben Kilham | February 27, 2021 | 4:00-5:00 pm
Presented by the Salisbury Association Land Trust, Colebrook Land Conservancy, Cornwall Conservation Trust, Norfolk Land Trust, Sharon Land Trust and Winchester Land Trust in Collaboration with the Scoville Memorial Library
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Black bears, thought to be solitary, have a different type of social behavior that possibly parallels early human behavior. They show evidence of reciprocal altruism, matrilinear hierarchy, and a mix of intentional and emotional communication. Bears can live for as many as forty years, which allows them long-term benefits from forming relationships with fellow cooperators.
Ben Kilham, Ph.D is a wildlife biologist based in Lyme, New Hampshire. His love of and devotion to black bears has enabled him to study their habits and interact with them for more than two decades. He, his wife Debra and sister Phoebe have accepted orphaned bear cubs into their home and enabled them to successfully return to the wild. Ben has been the focus of several news articles and documentaries, including National Geographic’s A Man Among Bears and Animal Planet’s Papa Bear. He is also author of the books Among the Bears: Raising Orphaned Cubs in the Wild and Out on a Limb: Origins of Intuition and Intelligence.

“Wildlife Adaptations”
for Children & Adults
July 28,2019
2:00 – 3:00 pm
Village Green, Norfolk, CT (if raining, Norfolk Library)
Why is a vulture’s head bald? Why are porcupines slow? Why does an opossum play possum? Answers to these questions, and many other wildlife questions, will be revealed along with some of Geri’s furry friends. She uses natural props, animal mounts, and a couple of surprise guests to illustrate the definitions of both structural and behavioral adaptations, and how adaptations help animals survive in different environments. Participants will be able to guess how certain “mystery props” could be used as adaptations for animals.
